Dubrava monastery (Eparchy of Žica) is located on a highland in village Dobroselica, on one of the most beautiful meander of river Uvac. Just 17 kilometers away from ski-center Tornik, it represents a one more, untamed, part of the nature of Zlatibor. Surrounded by magnificent pine forest and hills, it is a unique oasis of peace and quiet that stands against time and keeps its ancient secrets. This hidden place, cut from civilization, symbolizesintertwinement ofSerbian history, mythical stories and spirituality.
As for the history of this monastery, we find out from an unreliable written sources, in which the name of the mason is not mentioned, that it is definitely built in Middle Ages. During the Ottoman rule in 17th century, the church of Saint Panteleimon was located here, which was pillaged and burned to the ground. It is believed that the discovery of ruins of this monastery in 1999, connected with the dream of Father Danilo, monk from the Hilandar monastery, in which he had a vision of a task to find lost a monastery with an immense treasure. During his travels, father Danilo came across an oak, beside which there were remains of the monastery. Very quickly archeologist from Institute for preservation of monuments from Kraljevo came on the location and they found about 260 gold coins from the period of the Republic of Venice and proved the existence of the remains of a church. The monastery was reconstructed in 2002 and consists of a single-naved church Saint Basil of Ostrog with half circled apsida that is 5.5 meters by 7.5 meters long, and of a couple of facilities and residences, that are intended for the stay ofnuns and Prior Danilo. Also, a road to the monastery was built so it is possible to come with motor vehicles.
This monastery of iconic nature and spirituality has gathered many visitors throughout the years. And as prior Danilo says: `Only those that are sent by the Lord come here. `
