Mokra Gora is a valley situated between Tara and Zlatibor. Its nature is made out of beautiful landscapes on a rough relief with steep valleys and gorges of the rivers Crni Rzav, Beli Rzav and Kamišsurrounded by many peaks and mountain overpasses. Interesting fact for Mokra Gora is a significant difference between the lowest altitude of 460 meters and highest altitude of 1544 meters. Mokra Gora lies on one of the biggest deposits of nickel in Europe, therefore there are lot of healthy water sources. Waters from these sources have a high percentage of diluted ions, and water from some of the springs is even toxic. Mokra Gora is most famous for the Shargan Eight, narrow gauge railroad known for its inventive technical way of overcoming big ascent on a small distance. The Shargan Eight is the only narrow gauge railroad of 760 millimeters width in Europe. Along the railroad, there are numerous exhibits of old locomotives and wagons protected as monuments of technical culture.
The attraction of Mokra Gora is the ethnic village Drvengrad which is on the hill Mećavnik, built upon an idea of the famous film director Emir Kusturica. Drvengrad consists of many authentic log cabins typical for Zlatibor district, which were brought on Mećavnik for the needs of the ethnic village. During your visit to Drvengrad take the opportunity to see a projection of a short film by Emir Kusturica, thanks to whom Drvengrad exists.
