In the eastern part of Republika Srpska, only 16 kilometers away from the Serbian state border in the valley of the river Drina, there is an attractive tourist destination – Višegrad. Tourists love Višegradbecause of the famous bridge on the River Drina, about which, our Nobel laureate, Ivo Andrić wrote a famous novel. The bridge was made in the second half of 16th century and built in eastern style as a masterpiece of the engineering of that time. The other big attraction in Višegrad is Andrićgrad, medieval stone town inspired by the works and characters of the books of Ivo Andrić and from the idea of the famous film director Emir Kusturica. Andrićgrad, in fact, shows a vision of how Višegrad could have looked if it was not bypassed by renaissance and other historical periods. Aside from these two well-known attractions in Višegrad, do not miss the opportunity to visit the monastery Dobrun in the gorge of the river Rzav built all the way back in 1343. Inside the monastery complex, there is also a museum dedicated to the First Serbian Uprising, Gallery and also a museum of Archdiocese of Dobra Bosna.
